Health Awareness Programmes for Pre- & Post-Natal Mothers and Adolescent Girls

SOWER conducted extensive maternal and adolescent health awareness sessions across its target villages. Programmes covered nutrition, safe pregnancy practices, breastfeeding, immunization, menstrual hygiene, and reproductive health literacy. Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablets were supplied to prevent anaemia among pregnant women and young girls. Trained educators collaborated with local health workers, ensuring culturally appropriate delivery. Post-training follow-ups reinforced healthy habits and improved early health-seeking behaviour.

Competitive Exam Coaching – Vocational Training Centre

The organization established a dedicated Competitive Exam Training Centre for rural youth. Coaching was provided for TNPSC, Police, Banking, Railways, and other government exams. With experienced faculty, structured mock tests, and quality study materials, the centre trained 150 youth, of whom 27 secured government jobs. Career counselling helped students chart long-term professional paths.

SHG Formation & Income Generation Support

SHG Formation & Income Generation Support

SOWER formed 50 SHGs and strengthened them through training in savings, credit management, leadership, and financial literacy. The programme identified 65 ultra-poor families and supported income-generation activities including petty shops, goat rearing, vegetable vending, tailoring, and small trade. SHG-bank linkages improved financial access and empowered women as independent decision-makers.

Livestock Support to Vulnerable Families

SOWER supported economically vulnerable families with goats and cows. Beneficiaries received training in scientific rearing, fodder management, disease prevention, and animal shed maintenance. Veterinary camps provided vaccinations and regular monitoring, enabling sustainable income through milk, meat, and sale of offspring.

Establishment of 2000-Litre Milk Chilling Unit

A 2000-litre milk chilling unit was installed to support dairy farmers from 15 villages. The unit enabled safe storage, reduced spoilage, improved milk quality, reduced dependence on middlemen, and secured better price realization for farmers.

Green Fodder Production Support for 150 Farmers

SOWER supported 150 farmers in cultivating high-yield green fodder varieties such as CO-4 and CO-5. Training covered cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, and silage preparation. Demonstration plots showed improved milk yield, lower feed costs, and stronger dairy income.

Skill Training for Women & Youth

Skill Training for Women & Youth

Tailoring, computer literacy, and jewellery-making programmes benefited 125 women and youth. Participants received hands-on training, practical exposure, and entrepreneurship guidance, enabling home-based businesses and local employment.

In collaboration with the Central Government Department of Workers Education, SOWER conducted five two-day Rural Awareness Programmes for 250 participants. Sessions covered labour rights, social security, financial literacy, safe migration, gender equality, and workplace safety.
